Gaynor Hopkins, better known as Bonnie Tyler, was born in the year 1951 in Wales, United Kingdom. As a child she liked different musical styles and was in the habit of listening to Janis Joplin and Tina Tuner, singers who were references for Bonnie.
At the age of 17, she entered a talent contest and sang a song that had been performed years earlier by a singer of the same last name, Mary Hopkin. The song chosen was "Those Were the Days" guaranteeing Bonnie the second place in the contest.
