Reggaeton is a musical style that originated from Latin, Caribbean and European music. The name appeared between 1994 and 1995 in Panama. However, it started to become popular in the early 1980s.

The great precursors of reggaeton were the musicians: El General, Nando Boom, Chico Man, Rene Renegado and Black Apache, who mixed Jamaican reggae with Latin rhythms.
