Circle Jerks

Formed in Los Angeles in 1979, Circle Jerks are one of the founding pillars of American hardcore punk. Emerging from the ashes of Black Flag — with vocalist Keith Morris at the helm — the band carved their name into rock history with a ferocious, fast-paced sound and sharp, satirical lyrics that skewered suburban conformity, politics, and everything in between. Their debut album *Group Sex* (1980) became an instant hardcore classic, delivering 14 tracks in under 16 minutes — a statement of raw, unfiltered energy that influenced countless bands for generations to come. Throughout the 1980s, albums like *Wild in the Streets* and *Wonderful* cemented their reputation as both musical rebels and unexpected storytellers, capable of blending punk aggression with dark humor and social commentary. After periods of hiatus and various lineup changes, the Circle Jerks reunited with renewed fury, reminding the world why they remain essential listening for anyone who values music with attitude, authenticity, and edge. Their live performances are legendary — explosive, cathartic, and absolutely uncompromising. More than four decades into their legacy, Circle Jerks continue to stand as a defiant symbol of punk's original spirit: loud, honest, and impossible to ignore.
